On a day out at the beach after a big storm, I came across these massive pieces of kelp that had been ripped up from the ocean floor and littered through out the rocks and rock pools on the beach. I found the shapes and designs of the rotting kelp fascinating. Upon first glance I thought young larva were eating the decaying kelp, but soon realized that these were natural forms made by the organism itself. For me, this is a turning point within my project, and I know find myself captivated by the decomposition of once beautiful things.

Bubbles
These are special bubbles I picked up in the pound shop one day. When you blow them up they harden, almost like bubble gum, they stiffen. I played around with the reaction of these bubbles on different surfaces like teeth, hair and nails. They also stick to each other like glue and create interesting shapes and colours, they are also impossible to get out of your own hair!

Felt Sweeties
These are little felt sweeties I made by rolling and matting different coloured fleeces together. I then sewed a few of them together to make a flat, almost two dimensional jar of sweets, with the felt sweets that were left, i made variations of sweet mobiles and hung them around my studio, however due to drafty rooms and general movements they kept on tangling and falling down.

Felt Workshop
The felt workshop was really interesting, we had to mat the fleece together with soaps and water, and although a few of my things came out looking more like felt vomit then felt patterns, I still learned a lot and had good fun.

Destroying Sweets
Originally had this on my wall, but it kept on falling down and getting everything unbelievably sticky, not even the hot glue gun could keep this mess from falling!
