When i first for the title of this brief, i was baffled! 'To sense my space', yeah, it'a a tough one, So I started looking at each noun individually, What is sense? What is space?Looking into physics and becoming too aware of my senses, it was confusing but i was working away, then one night i was watching a t.v documentary about reptiles. I was fascinated, in particular, how snakes 'sense their space' with their tongues, YUCK! disgustingly interesting. Research was increasingly difficult to explore, and it was hard to expand on the general idea, i pause and take a step back, looking at the larger picture, why snakes? i find snakes disgusting, i don't have one, my friend dose, it makes me gag, what else makes me gag? tomato sauce? old hair? adipose tissue? all these objects occupy space, what if excess space was filled with these kind of disgusting objects? What would happen if these disgusting objects were surrounded by attractive things? What about the excess space in the body? oozing? burning? melting? squishing? shaving?...
...Well thats the general gist so far. So this past week i've been asking people their own individual dislikes and annoyances and working in 3D, making rubber/plaster impressions of belly buttons and excess stretched skin and making cast of my round face, trying to give the appearance of dripping, oozing wax. All in all I'm having a great time playing around with this idea.

Playing with Plaster
Playing with plaster today, exploring excess spaces. I thought that if I put plaster inside the ballons that the rubber would expand as the mass increases however this was horribly unsuccessful, no expansion at all! but I did have fun and ended up with little belly button shapes.
Things i don't like
-When my sister destroys her dinner in tomato sauce
-Pulling old hair out of hair brushes
- Generously proportioned topless people at the beach
- That slime you get in your mouth after a night out or after a big glass of cranberry juice, that awful cranberry phlegm
Bricks in the Rain exhibition
30 irish ceramics artists response to China's culture, heritage and environment through materials and processes effected by their time spent at a brick factory in Xi'an Fuping.
I thought the exhibition was 'top drawer' and very interesting to see each individual artists approach to their own experience in Fuping. Oh yes, I felt very artsy fartsy indeed.

Polly Morgan
Polly Morgan is an absolute favorite of mine! Her taxidermy art is disturbing but memorable. I love the way she can not only make the donated animals look so natural, which, in itself is a talent, but can also combine different species of animals to make something so striking and unique. I find Morgan's composition and themes an inspiration to my work, and has motivated me to be more dark and daring with materials, but don't expect to see me collecting animal carcasses at 4 in the morning!
